Courtney’s Early Career
After graduating from Columbus State University, Courtney moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. He began performing with various ensembles and orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and the Brooklyn Philharmonic.

The Big River Brass Band was formed in 2007 by Ed Butterfield and Jerry Miller. The two men, both with a passion for music and a desire to create something new, came together to form a brass band that would play in the style of European brass bands.
